UNREAL ENGINE PROP
Round Shield
Overview
My purpose was to use Unreal Engine 5 and recreate one of those round shield that were common during the Vikings raids.
Leather, metal and wood were my 3 materials, and making them work together while keeping a simple but functional design was my job, as if I were a craftsman of the time.
I followed the PBR workflow to reference real-world materials within UE5, focused on creating shaders within the engine and also understanding light to improve the texture work. I also decided not to take into account the Polycount as my project was focused on the final quality result.
Being my first project in UE5, understanding and working with the light options became a motivating challenge. I also had to overcome the shader workflow within UE5 since it was my first time working with nodes as well.
It has been a great project where I learnt a lot and practised several ways to make everything behave as I had in mind and get nice beauty shots.
